Aula Magna – Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology
The location at Via Accademia Albertina 13 is housed in the former baroque convent of the Canonichesse Lateranensi, which underwent a long and complex renovation and adaptation process (1982-September 2004).
The restoration of the frescoes in the Aula Magna and the Abbess’s apartment, along with the renovation of the cloister and courtyards, have partly restored the expansive feel of the original baroque complex.
In the elegant and refined restored former convent, there are now offices for faculty and technical staff, student secretariats, computer, teaching, and research labs, classrooms, meeting rooms, and a library. In the Aula Magna, originally the ancient chapter house or refectory, one can admire a series of frescoes attributed to the painting and color technique of the Guidobono, a family of artists who left their mark at the Royal Palace during their stay in Turin.
Getting to Torino:
By Air
Turin’s primary airport is Turin-Caselle, located 16 kilometers from the city center. The airport provides a scenic arrival over the Alpine landscape that surrounds the city.
From the airport, you can reach downtown Turin via:
- Train: The railway line connects Turin Airport with Torino Porta Susa train station in about half an hour, operating 7 days a week.
The airport train station is located opposite the Arrivals area of the terminal.

- ARRIVA Italia Bus: The service operates every day of the year with departures every 15’/30′, alternating between direct and local routes. Departures from the airport to the main train stations of Torino Porta Susa and Torino Porta Nuova with direct routes are at minute 15’ and 45’ on weekdays, and at minute 30’ on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The connection between the center of Turin and the airport is provided by a direct bus service, with no intermediate stops, from Torino Porta Nuova and Torino Porta Susa train stations to the airport at minute 0’ and 30’ from Porta Nuova on weekdays, and at minute 30’ on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays;

- Taxi: Taxis are readily available outside the arrivals hall. The journey to central Turin takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
By Train
Turin is well-connected by train with the rest of Italy and Europe. The main train stations in the city are Torino Porta Nuova and Torino Porta Susa, both of which are centrally located and offer numerous amenities. For train services and timetables, visit Trenitalia.

From Torino Porta Nuova railway station:
- On foot: It is a 15-minute walk. Head north toward the city center following the pedestrian signs. (map here)
- By bus (about 10 minutes): Take bus number 6 (towards ‘Val San Martino – Piazza Hermada’, map here) or 68 (towards ‘Borgata rossa – Via Cafasso’, map here) from the station to the ‘Giolitti’ stop, which is just a few steps from the venue.
From Torino Porta Susa railway station:
- On foot: The walk takes about 30 minutes, heading east along Corso San Martino. (map here)
