Pre-conference Workshop: ‘The Event-Related Potentials (ERP) technique applied to the study of language’
ONLINE – July 7th, 2021
Brief description of the workshop
This one-day workshop aims at introducing the ERP technique, describing how different indexes of the EEG activity can be used to study the cognitive mechanisms associated with language comprehension. No prior experience is required, although an interest in language/pragmatics would be welcome.
Topics covered will include:
– Recording and interpreting EEG/ERP indexes of language processing
– Elements of experimental design
– Elements of EEG signal processing
– Current research and future development of language-related EEG indexes
Theoretical and practical sessions will be held by Paolo Canal – Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS, Pavia (Italy).
Target audience
This workshop is meant for researchers interested in learning how ERP components can be measured and used to study cognitive mechanism. The course material is appropriate for researchers with no prior experience with EEG.
